When is the best time to post on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter in 2021? New report released
Sprout Social has published its latest listing of the best times to post to each of the major social media platforms, which is based on the company's 20,000+ customer base, who use the platform to schedule and post online.
Sprout has determined the best times to post based on when this content receives the most engagement - which is slightly different from the information you'll get from on-platform insights, which are generally based on when users are active in-app.
That could make Sprout's report a more accurate indicator of the best times to post for ideal engagement - but it's worth mentioning that the information presented in these 'best times' reports is generic and based on a large volume of data. Even though the best times to post will depend on your specific audience and their habits, data summaries like this can help guide your posting strategy and help you tap into your best posting cadence faster to enhance your results.
Here's what Sprout found in analyzing the data from last year - and one other key proviso: all the times listed refer to Central Time Zone (CST).
The Best Times To Post on Facebook 2021
According to Sprout Social, the best times to post to Facebook are between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. Monday between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. also appears to be a good time to engage, so there's a variety of options to try.
According to Sprout, the worst time to post is on weekends, which makes sense given that users want to spend their time doing other things. On the other hand, you might expect people to have more free time and be more responsive on weekends.
The Best Times To Post on Instagram 2021
The best times to post to Instagram, according to Sprout, are Tuesdays between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., and Monday through Friday between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m.
Weekend engagement appears to be much lower than on Facebook, but it's also worth noting whether the data is skewed by Sprout Social business users who don't post as much on weekends. If they don't post, they won't see engagement, which may appear to influence the results, making weekends appear less engaging than they actually are.
The Best Times To Post on Twitter 2021
According to prout, the best days to post your tweets are Wednesdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., as well as Tuesday through Thursday between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
Because Twitter's stream moves at a faster pace, you'll probably be posting multiple times per day, and it'd be interesting to compare this data to your own to see how it affects your strategy. Should you publish more frequently during certain hours if you notice higher engagement, rather than spacing your tweets out throughout the day?
Ultimately, Twitter strategy is a matter of trial and error, but these notes may provide some guidance.
Weekends, once again, appear to be less engaging for tweeting.
